Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Felix Mihăescu kicked off to start the match. An unexpected shot in the 10th minute by Nistor Caciulescu got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Costin Şunda received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Șerban Lăzăroiu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Costin Şunda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Șerban Lăzăroiu having to interfere. In the 19th minute, Sorin Dumitru hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dragheasa's Octav Bușcu got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When F.C. Lupeni's Niculae Doman in the 23rd minute got a chance for a shot 23rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Dragheasa's goalie prevented a goal. Dorel Goiciu's late challenge caught a Dragheasa's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dorel Goiciu helped the player get up and apologised. In the 34th match minute, F.C. Lupeni was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dorel Goiciu to maneuver through the defense. Șerban Lăzăroiu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nistor Caciulescu in the 37th minute of play. 38 minutes into the match, Dragheasa's goal looked a bit too open when Felix Mihăescu came free, but Gică Iulian reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 40th minute Costin Şunda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Șerban Lăzăroiu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Costin Şunda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Costin Şunda could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Șerban Lăzăroiu made a huge save. Gică Iulian didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Felix Mihăescu went, in the 45th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Costin Şunda was the one to do the kick off. Felix Mihăescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Niculae Doman got free with Gică Iulian in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 60th minute Nistor Caciulescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Șerban Lăzăroiu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 60th match minute, F.C. After having played for 63 minutes, Costin Şunda managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dragheasa's supporters crossed their fingers, but Costin Şunda was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 65th minute, Nistor Caciulescu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Șerban Lăzăroiu was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. In the 69th minute, Nistor Caciulescu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felix Mihăescu in the 72nd minute of play forced Dragheasa's goalkeeper Gică Iulian to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in F.C. Lupeni's zone, Costin Şunda stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Șerban Lăzăroiu came out of the goal and Costin Şunda tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Octav Bușcu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Șerban Lăzăroiu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Costin Şunda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Șerban Lăzăroiu having to interfere. Costin Şunda struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Șerban Lăzăroiu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dragheasa. Gică Iulian was out of position in the 91 minute of play, and Felix Mihăescu capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Felix Mihăescu really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. Șerban Lăzăroiu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Costin Şunda in the 95th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nistor Caciulescu in the 96th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Șerban Lăzăroiu saved F.C. Lupeni from getting behind. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Dragheasa lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
