With an all-out effort, Buhaesti's Ionică Cupșa threw himself towards the right post 5 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Damian Ionașcu, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 6 minutes into the game, Cristi Capătă was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Fc Catanga's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Buhaesti the free kick. The supporters of Buhaesti booed when Fc Catanga was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristi Capătă didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Fc Catanga's zone, Damian Ionașcu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ionică Cupșa came out of the goal and Damian Ionașcu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Buhaesti getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Damian Ionașcu hit a great ball. Ionică Cupșa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Damian Ionașcu, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Damian Ionașcu in the 15th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ionică Cupșa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 17th play minute Mihai Mușetescu came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Ionică Cupșa. 1-0. In the 25th minute, Buhaesti's Damian Ionașcu dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. Fc Catanga's Ionică Cupșa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Damian Ionașcu in the 28th minute of play. 31 minutes into the match, Buhaesti's Damian Ionașcu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ionică Cupșa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ionică Cupșa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Damian Ionașcu in the 36th minute of the match. Ionică Cupșa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 91st minute, Dumitru Vornicu had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. When Flavius Frențiu fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fc Catanga's protests and gave Flavius Frențiu a yellow card for diving instead. In the 91st minute, Flavius Frențiu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
