After 3 minutes, Aron Giurăscu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the F.C. BUDENI and the Steaua FCSB players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 4 played minutes F.C. BUDENI got a freekick which was hit by Aron Giurăscu. After a defensive mix-up in F.C. BUDENI's zone, Valentin Mangra stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Iulian Urducea came out of the goal and Valentin Mangra tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 8th match minute, F.C. BUDENI was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robert Lopatnicu to maneuver through the defense. Iulian Urducea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mircea Bărbătescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 19 minutes, Sergiu Pelin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Steaua FCSB's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sergiu Pelin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Iulian Urducea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sergiu Pelin in the 26th minute of the match. When Mircea Bărbătescu came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Steaua FCSB fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mircea Bărbătescu couldn't finish the play. The wind increased when Sergiu Pelin made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Steaua FCSB booed when F.C. BUDENI was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aurel Baican didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sergiu Pelin in the 55th minute of play forced F.C. BUDENI's goalkeeper Iulian Urducea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to F.C. If Mircea Bărbătescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mircea Bărbătescus short, quick shot in the 96thth minute got Iulian Urducea to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Steaua FCSB played a much better game than F.C. BUDENI and deserved their victory. The F.C. BUDENI players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
