Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Leonard Petrean started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 3rd minute of the match Cornel Jitaru sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rafael Márquez skillfully saved the ball. Nicolae Levința hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Rafael Márquez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Răzvan Mitruț, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 11 minutes into the match, Motaenii's Leonard Petrean sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Corneliu Vuia narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After having played for 12 minutes, Petru Hâldan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Galaxy Lupeni's supporters crossed their fingers, but Petru Hâldan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Galaxy Lupeni's Corneliu Vuia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Galaxy Lupeni from getting a goal against them. When Ferdinand Barbosu came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Motaenii fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ferdinand Barbosu couldn't finish the play. Horaţiu Nica charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Horaţiu Nica the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Galaxy Lupeni fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 19th minute. Penalty! Denis Corcoveanu shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. After 24 played minutes Galaxy Lupeni got a freekick which was hit by Laurențiu Conta. Leonard Petrean received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Corneliu Vuia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 37thth minute of the game Leonard Petrean who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Galaxy Lupeni's Corneliu Vuia was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Corneliu Vuia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leonard Petrean, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Răzvan Mitruț was the one to do the kick off. Ferdinand Barbosu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Corneliu Vuia having to interfere. If Leonard Petrean had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Leonard Petrean in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Corneliu Vuia saved Galaxy Lupeni from getting behind. After 59 played minutes Galaxy Lupeni got a freekick which was hit by Laurențiu Conta. When Motaenii's Ferdinand Barbosu in the 61st minute got a chance for a shot 61st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Galaxy Lupeni's goalie prevented a goal. In the 67th minute, Ferdinand Barbosu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Corneliu Vuia was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Nicolae Levința managed to get in a good position for a shot. Motaenii's supporters rose to their feet, but Nicolae Levința was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Corneliu Vuia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ferdinand Barbosu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Corneliu Vuia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Leonard Petrean fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Corneliu Vuia having to interfere. Ferdinand Barbosu struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Corneliu Vuia didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Motaenii. Motaenii's Ferdinand Barbosu got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ferdinand Barbosu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Corneliu Vuia having to interfere. Motaenii's Ferdinand Barbosu got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee ended the match the Motaenii players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
