The referee ignored Runcurel CSS's protests and gave Ionică Mălaimare a yellow card for diving instead. In the 12th minute AFC AMA BUZAU were awarded a corner. Horia Zogreanu went to the cornerflag to take it. After 13 played minutes AFC AMA BUZAU got a freekick which was hit by Remus Neguțu. After a rather tough play, Runcurel CSS's Ion Ciocârlan got a free kick in the 14th minute. Sorin Cismaș took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Horia Zogreanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marius Arnăuțoiu got free with Sorin Cismaș in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cezar Caramitru during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 19 played minutes AFC AMA BUZAU got a freekick which was hit by Cezar Caramitru. Gică Paveliuc was shown his second yellow card after 22 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. Mihail Muncelean recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the Runcurel CSS defense, Horia Zogreanu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sorin Cismaș. The Runcurel CSS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sorin Cismaș should have stopped the shot. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.
