Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Vintilă Horodincă took the kick off in the first half of the match. Ion Ciocârlan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 10th match minute, Runcurel CSS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ionică Pârvulescu to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ion Ciocârlan got free with Costică Diaconescu in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The long shot by Irinel Ignat in the 21st minute really tested Costică Diaconescu's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. 35 minutes into the match, Runcurel CSS's goal looked a bit too open when Mircea Bărbătescu came free, but Sorin Cismaș reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 38 minutes into the match, Vintilă Horodincă had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Costică Diaconescu. Steaua FCSB's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Vintilă Horodincă was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. 45 minutes into the match, Steaua FCSB's goalkeeper Costică Diaconescu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ion Ciocârlan. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sergiu Pelin to strike the kick off in the second half. Vintilă Horodincă received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Costică Diaconescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Runcurel CSS's Sorin Cismaș proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Runcurel CSS from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Virgil Gheție got free with Sorin Cismaș in the 67th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Steaua FCSB's Costică Diaconescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ion Ciocârlan in the 70th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 76 minutes, Sergiu Pelin took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Sorin Cismaș to make any attempt to save it. Dinu Tecău kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Steaua FCSB's Felix Ionașcu got a free kick in the 82nd minute. Ion Ciocârlan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Costică Diaconescu having to interfere. Felix Ionașcu kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. Mircea Bărbătescu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sorin Cismaș read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 88th minute of play. Ion Ciocârlan struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Costică Diaconescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Runcurel CSS. In the 92nd match minute, Runcurel CSS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gică Paveliuc to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 93 minutes, Sergiu Pelin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Steaua FCSB's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sergiu Pelin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
