The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Marcel Chițu during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Lupeni FCM's Olimpiu Baltian got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 27th minute, Marcel Chițu had to leave the field with a concussion. Nichifor Codruț charged in rather forcefully in the 27th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nichifor Codruț the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Calistrat Teodoreanu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Olimpiu Baltian in the 32nd minute of the match. A collision led to FC Barcelona getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Basarab Răduțu hit a great ball. Isac Albuț received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Calistrat Teodoreanu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Virgil Gavruță made the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, FC Barcelona's Calistrat Teodoreanu got control of the ball when Olimpiu Baltian tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 73 minutes of play, Lupeni FCM's Olimpiu Baltian made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Calistrat Teodoreanu was left in no man's land by his defense there! Calistrat Teodoreanu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Isac Albuț, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. When Lupeni FCM's Isac Albuț in the 80th minute got a chance for a shot 80th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FC Barcelona's goalie prevented a goal. Virgil Gavruță took the ball and in the 84 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tudor Bărboianu. Isac Albuț might have been able to make a better finish in the 89th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Calistrat Teodoreanu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Isac Albuț ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Lupeni FCM's zone, Virgil Gavruță stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tudor Bărboianu came out of the goal and Virgil Gavruță tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
