Ciucani's supporters rose to their feet, but Filip Cernea was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ciprian Zdrelea breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Steaua LM booed when Ciucani was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sorin Boeru didn't get a good kick on the ball. A very good chance. 25 minutes into the game, Octavian Braru was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Steaua LM's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ciucani the free kick. In the 25th minute, Octavian Braru hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 27 played minutes Ciucani got a freekick which was hit by Călin Dedu. With his leg Ciprian Zdrelea managed to avoid a goal in the 34thth minute, when Ciucani's Andrei Panaiteanu fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Ciprian Zdrelea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Călin Dedu in the 35th minute of the match. Călin Dedu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ciprian Zdrelea having to interfere. Steaua LM's Ciprian Zdrelea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Denis Grigoroiu in the 37th minute of play. In the 42nd match minute, Steaua LM was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Toader Aldulea to maneuver through the defense. If Călin Dedu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Filip Cernea in the 52nd minute of play forced Steaua LM's goalkeeper Ciprian Zdrelea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Steaua LM's zone, Denis Grigoroiu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ciprian Zdrelea came out of the goal and Denis Grigoroiu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Steaua LM's Ciprian Zdrelea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Filip Cernea in the 58th minute of play. In the 59th minute, Denis Grigoroiu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 60 minutes of play, Ciucani's Filip Cernea made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ciprian Zdrelea was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Călin Dedu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Călin Dedu took the ball and in the 76 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ciprian Zdrelea. Ciprian Zdrelea dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Ciucani's Mihnea Braru proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to save Ciucani from getting a goal against them. Andrei Panaiteanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Călin Dedu in the 83rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ciprian Zdrelea prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 85thth minute of the game Călin Dedu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Steaua LM's Ciprian Zdrelea was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ciucani's Andrei Panaiteanu got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Călin Dedu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Ciprian Zdrelea tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ciucani's Călin Dedu got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 96th minute Călin Dedu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ciprian Zdrelea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Ciucani had played much better football throughout.
