The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Claudiu Brănet came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the FC MINERUL fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Claudiu Brănet couldn't finish the play. Claudiu Brănet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Claudiu Brănet in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Iurie Muntian saved Ciopirteni from getting behind. Claudiu Brănet received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Iurie Muntian tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 20th minute Claudiu Brănet shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iurie Muntian saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ciprian Gaiță was a little too slow when Ionică Coșeriu got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 21st minute. The score was now 1-0. In the 28th minute, Ionică Coșeriu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Iurie Muntian made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudiu Brănet in the 40th minute of play. Claudiu Brănet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 44th minute, Ionică Coșeriu fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Ciprian Gaiță, passed just outside the right post.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Claudiu Brănet stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. FC MINERUL's Ciprian Gaiță played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ionică Coșeriu in the 53rd minute of play. 54 minutes into the game, Romeo Costandin was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ciopirteni's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC MINERUL the free kick. A collision led to Ciopirteni getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Romeo Costandin hit a great ball. Petru Țepeneag was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 55th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Claudiu Brănet received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Iurie Muntian tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Iordache Mustăcilă got free with Iurie Muntian in the 76th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Iordache Mustăcilă fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iurie Muntian having to interfere. With a little luck, Ciopirteni's Iurie Muntian got control of the ball when Iordache Mustăcilă tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ionică Coșeriu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ciprian Gaiță read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. Ciprian Gaiță made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ionică Coșeriu in the 88th minute of play. In the 90th minute Claudiu Brănet shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iurie Muntian saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nistor Bacanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Ciopirteni had won after a very even match.
