The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 6 minutes into the match, Vulcez CSM's Emilian Zăvoianu broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. When Claudiu Brănet came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the FC MINERUL fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Claudiu Brănet couldn't finish the play. In the 26th minute, Daniel Hănescu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Vulcez CSM fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 29th minute, Ivan Fetanu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ciprian Gaiță was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Claudiu Brănet spun around in front of the goal 35 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Vulcez CSM's goal. Daniel Hănescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Claudiu Brănet fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robert Maniu having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Claudiu Brănet was the one to do the kick off. Daniel Hănescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ciprian Gaiță having to interfere. If Daniel Hănescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Robert Maniu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iordache Mustăcilă, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. After a rather tough play, Vulcez CSM's Flavius Bostan got a free kick in the 79th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iordache Mustăcilă in the 80th minute of play forced Vulcez CSM's goalkeeper Robert Maniu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Vulcez CSM's zone, Claudiu Brănet stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Robert Maniu came out of the goal and Claudiu Brănet tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Claudiu Brănet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Vulcez CSM getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Emilian Zăvoianu hit a great ball. Petru Țepeneag took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 92nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Robert Maniu. Vulcez CSM's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Claudiu Brănet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute.
