Iurie Muntian showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nae Nițescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. In the 24th minute Rapid 1923 were awarded a corner. Paul Ghețea went to the cornerflag to take it. Claudiu Mocanu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Iurie Muntian tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 30 played minutes, Rapid 1923's Sever Tapalagă shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Iurie Muntian came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Rapid 1923 reached it. The supporters of Ciopirteni booed when Rapid 1923 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Traian Pelin didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 40th minute of the match Ion Băbescu shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nicolae Mironescu showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Nicolae Mironescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ionică Coșeriu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nae Nițescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Iurie Muntian tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Claudiu Mocanu to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the game, Nistor Bacanu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Nicolae Mironescu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Nistor Bacanu came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Ciopirteni fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nistor Bacanu couldn't finish the play. Nicolae Mironescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ionică Coșeriu in the 60th minute of the match. Ionică Coșeriu scored 2-0 in the 63rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nicolae Mironescu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ciopirteni's Nistor Bacanu got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 68 minutes, Ionică Coșeriu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ciopirteni's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ionică Coșeriu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Romeo Costandin's late challenge caught a Rapid 1923's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Romeo Costandin helped the player get up and apologised. Romeo Costandin hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match.
