Spectators: 7519 (Terracing: 5640, Seating: 1729, VIP seats: 150) FC Carlsberg's Mihnea Aldea started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Frunzisul's Călin Piț played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mihnea Aldea in the 4th minute of play. In the 6th minute, Eliodor Gheordunescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 12 minutes into the game, Sorin Boia cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Paul Poplăcan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Sorin Boia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 17th minute, Teodor Buhăescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 19 minutes, Octavian Calboreanu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Frunzisul's supporters crossed their fingers, but Octavian Calboreanu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 21st minute Sorin Boia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paul Poplăcan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Paul Poplăcan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sorin Boia in the 25th minute of the match. Paul Poplăcan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Octavian Calboreanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 30th minute Mihnea Aldea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Călin Piț saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Octavian Calboreanu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sorin Boia stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Sorin Boia could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Paul Poplăcan made a huge save. Sorin Boia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paul Poplăcan having to interfere. Nechifor Brănet hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. 72 minutes into the match, Frunzisul's goal looked a bit too open when Laurențiu Panaitescu came free, but Călin Piț reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sorin Boia could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Paul Poplăcan made a huge save. 76 minutes into the match, Valeriu Răducanu notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Frunzisul's Călin Piț. Călin Piț was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Teodor Buhăescu in the 84th minute of play forced Frunzisul's goalkeeper Călin Piț to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Paul Poplăcan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sorin Boia in the 86th minute. FC Carlsberg's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
