Isac Milcu came out and tried to block the shot, but Gabriel Bâlea slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 37th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Călin Drăgoescu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marian Cândea in the 52nd minute. Călin Drăgoescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Denis Harhoiu in the 54th minute of the match. Emanuel Agulescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Călin Drăgoescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Denis Harhoiu in the 61st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Călin Drăgoescu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, FC Los Angeles's Florin Ciocoiu got a free kick in the 63rd minute. Călin Drăgoescu made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Denis Harhoiu sent off a good shot on target. The audience was convinced that Denis Harhoiu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Călin Drăgoescu was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game. Denis Harhoiu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Călin Drăgoescu having to interfere. Mihail Nicodim's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Călin Drăgoescu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play.
