The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, A.S. Stefy Club's Cătălin Damian got a free kick in the 2nd minute. A.S. Stefy Club's Teodor Cornoiu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save A.S. Stefy Club from getting a goal against them. 5 minutes into the match, A.S. Stefy Club's goalkeeper Teodor Cornoiu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Calistrat Cunea. Costică Zgabei charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Costică Zgabei the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 6th minute, Costică Zgabei hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cătălin Damian fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Costin Logofeteanu having to interfere. Costin Logofeteanu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Petrică Donose's shot from short distance in the 9th minute. Aurel Zmărăndescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 16th minute, Petrică Donose made a precise shot to the right of Costin Logofeteanu. Vargata's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Calistrat Cunea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Teodor Cornoiu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Teodor Cornoiu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aurel Zmărăndescu in the 28th minute of the match. In the 31st minute Vintilă Găvan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Costin Logofeteanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vargata's Aurel Zmărăndescu got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 37 played minutes A.S. Stefy Club got a freekick which was hit by Lucian Ecobescu. Teodor Cornoiu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aurel Zmărăndescu in the 42nd minute of play. 45 minutes into the match, A.S. Stefy Club's goal looked a bit too open when Aurel Zmărăndescu came free, but Teodor Cornoiu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Aurel Zmărăndescu to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, one of A.S. Stefy Club:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for A.S. Stefy Club. Cătălin Damian sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Teodor Cornoiu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Calistrat Cunea, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. A.S. Stefy Club's Teodor Cornoiu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aurel Zmărăndescu in the 68th minute of play. After 69 minutes, Nicolae Prisecaru mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vargata and the A.S. Stefy Club players grew even worse after the yellow card. Petrică Donose's late challenge caught a Vargata's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Petrică Donose helped the player get up and apologised. Aurel Zmărăndescu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Teodor Cornoiu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 73rd minute of play. In the 79th minute, Lucian Ecobescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in A.S. Stefy Club's zone, Aurel Zmărăndescu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Teodor Cornoiu came out of the goal and Aurel Zmărăndescu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 83 played minutes Vargata got a freekick which was hit by Cosmin Stolojan. Teodor Cornoiu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Calistrat Cunea, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. A.S. Stefy Club's Petrică Donose got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 93rd minute, Costin Călinescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Narcis Miniș didn't quite understand what happened when in the 95 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. In the 96th minute, Lucian Ecobescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Teodor Cornoiu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Calistrat Cunea went, in the 97th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Vargata fans cheered their team off the field, for while A.S. Stefy Club had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
