After 9 minutes, Petre Gorjanu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Stenea and the CF Braila players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 9 played minutes Stenea got a freekick which was hit by Petre Gorjanu. Ionel Alupoaie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nechifor Ignătescu having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in CF Braila's zone, Ionel Alupoaie stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nechifor Ignătescu came out of the goal and Ionel Alupoaie tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nechifor Ignătescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ionel Alupoaie, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. If Nistor Albulescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. George Apostolescu kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. Nechifor Ignătescu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ionel Alupoaie went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 35th minute Petre Gorjanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nechifor Ignătescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ionel Alupoaie might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nechifor Ignătescu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ionel Alupoaie ran back to his position shaking his head. When Stenea's Petre Gorjanu in the 39th minute got a chance for a shot 39th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye CF Braila's goalie prevented a goal. A collision led to CF Braila getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Petre Păun hit a great ball. In the 41st minute of the match Dorel Oțeteleșanu sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nechifor Ignătescu skillfully saved the ball. Stenea's Petre Gorjanu got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nechifor Ignătescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ionel Alupoaie, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ionel Alupoaie was the one to do the kick off. Nechifor Ignătescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ionel Alupoaie, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ionel Alupoaie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Petre Gorjanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nechifor Ignătescu having to interfere. In the 69th minute, Ionel Alupoaie ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nechifor Ignătescu was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Ionel Alupoaie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Nechifor Ignătescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nechifor Ignătescu made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Petre Gorjanu sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 82 minutes, Ionel Alupoaie managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Stenea's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ionel Alupoaie was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Petre Gorjanu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Nechifor Ignătescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The corner led Stenea's Dorel Oțeteleșanu to fire away a dangerous shot which Nechifor Ignătescu despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 91st minute Ionel Alupoaie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nechifor Ignătescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ionel Alupoaie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 94th minute, CF Braila's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Petre Gorjanu fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Petre Gorjanu who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 96thth minute tested the skills of Nechifor Ignătescu when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Stenea played a much better game than CF Braila and deserved their victory. The CF Braila players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
