One of CF Ramnicu Valcea:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of MVB Buzau:s goal. Emilian Enigărescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. George Tăbăcaru tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 21st minute, Vlad Bejgăneanu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 22nd minute of the match, Emilian Enigărescu tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but George Tăbăcaru saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Mihăiţă Dinulescu scored 1-1 in the 24th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Damian Iacobescu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Pavel Toader managed to get in a good position for a shot. CF Ramnicu Valcea's supporters rose to their feet, but Pavel Toader was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Damian Iacobescu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Mihăiţă Dinulescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ionel Cârneci got free with George Tăbăcaru in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, CF Ramnicu Valcea's George Tăbăcaru got control of the ball when Alexandru Sabău tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mihăiţă Dinulescu made a kick off. In the 53rd minute, Emilian Enigărescu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. George Tăbăcaru was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. CF Ramnicu Valcea's Pavel Toader quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Gabriel Mara, made in the 56th minute of the game. In the 63rd minute, Ionel Cârneci hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. CF Ramnicu Valcea's Pavel Toader got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tudor Panescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Tudor Panescu might have been able to make a better finish in the 88th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Damian Iacobescu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tudor Panescu ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in MVB Buzau's zone, Tudor Panescu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Damian Iacobescu came out of the goal and Tudor Panescu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 92nd minute, Tudor Panescu reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Damian Iacobescu. The goal made the score 3-2. George Tăbăcaru showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emilian Enigărescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. MVB Buzau's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
