Bogdan Mangra made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. George Tăbăcaru showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marius Sinulescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alex Coroian in the 12th minute of play forced CF Ramnicu Valcea's goalkeeper George Tăbăcaru to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. CS UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA's Bogdan Mangra tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alex Coroian in the 36th minute of play forced CF Ramnicu Valcea's goalkeeper George Tăbăcaru to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, CS UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA's Bogdan Mangra got control of the ball when Mugur Poplăcean tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Mihăiţă Dinulescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Florin Leucuța to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Florin Leucuța made a precise shot to the right of Bogdan Mangra. CS UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. Sever Mazăre hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Bogdan Mangra came out of the goal in the 61st minute to try and stop a shot by CF Ramnicu Valcea's Tudor Panescu. But to his dismay, Tudor Panescu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. The audience was convinced that Florin Leucuța's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bogdan Mangra was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. Martin Codrescu received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. George Tăbăcaru came out and tried to block the shot, but Martin Codrescu slotted it home off the left post making it 4-1 in the 67th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Florin Leucuța in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bogdan Mangra saved CS UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA from getting behind. 74 minutes into the game, Martin Codrescu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. CS UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave CF Ramnicu Valcea the free kick. A collision led to CF Ramnicu Valcea getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Mugur Poplăcean hit a great ball. George Tăbăcaru made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alex Coroian in the 82nd minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Marius Sinulescu during the 92nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 92 played minutes CS UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA got a freekick which was hit by Marius Sinulescu. In the 95th minute of the match CF Ramnicu Valcea got a corner. CS UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Mugur Poplăcean ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner went over the outstretched arms of CS UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA's goalie and right to Victor Bădiliță. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. CS UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. CF Ramnicu Valcea had played much better football throughout.
