Mihail Zbârciog made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mihail Postelnicu in the 9th minute of play. A collision led to FCSB getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Ovidiu Muscaș hit a great ball. Irinel Negulici fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emanuel Vârnav having to interfere. In the 16th match minute, FCSB was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alin Calomfirescu to maneuver through the defense. FCSB's Mihail Zbârciog proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save FCSB from getting a goal against them. In the 20th match minute, FCSB was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ovidiu Muscaș to maneuver through the defense. In the 20th minute of the match David Focșa sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mihail Zbârciog skillfully saved the ball. FCSB's Irinel Negulici got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gigi Traianescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Mihail Zbârciog tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, FCSB's Sorin Urdoi got a free kick in the 36th minute. In the 37th minute of the match David Focșa shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mihail Zbârciog showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 39th minute, Andrei Medrea ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Emanuel Vârnav was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 43rd minute, Gigi Traianescu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Gernet's Mihail Postelnicu in the 44th minute got a chance for a shot 44th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FCSB's goalie prevented a goal. Andrei Medrea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Andrei Medrea to strike the kick off in the second half. Andrei Medrea blasted a shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Emanuel Vârnav having to make a save. Mihail Postelnicu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gigi Traianescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Emanuel Vârnav showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andrei Medrea, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Gigi Traianescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Petru Valerian was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 63 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 63rd minute of the game. One of FCSB:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Gernet:s goal. The supporters of FCSB booed when Gernet was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vintilă Biriș didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Gernet's Emanuel Vârnav got control of the ball when Maxim Păsărin tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Irinel Negulici managed to get in a good position for a shot. FCSB's supporters rose to their feet, but Irinel Negulici was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Emanuel Vârnav breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mihail Postelnicu in the 76th minute of play forced FCSB's goalkeeper Mihail Zbârciog to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 77th minute, Irinel Negulici ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Emanuel Vârnav was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gigi Traianescu in the 81st minute of play forced FCSB's goalkeeper Mihail Zbârciog to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 88 minutes, Irinel Negulici managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FCSB's supporters crossed their fingers, but Irinel Negulici was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mihail Postelnicu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The FCSB players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
