An unexpectedly hard shot by Andrei Săvulescu in the 13th minute of play forced FC Dinamo's goalkeeper Ovidiu Berca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 19th match minute, Borussia Dortmund was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dan Merișor to maneuver through the defense. After 22 played minutes FC Dinamo got a freekick which was hit by Constantin Dincă. Marin Isvoreanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vintilă Ţirpe kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Dacian Văcaru could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Eugen Răduțu made a huge save.

The wind increased when Andrei Săvulescu made the kick off in the second half. Borussia Dortmund's Eugen Răduțu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dacian Văcaru in the 56th minute of play. Bogdan Bianu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, FC Dinamo's Ciprian Gugea got a free kick in the 60th minute. 64 minutes into the match, Emil Mandache notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Borussia Dortmund's Eugen Răduțu. Eugen Răduțu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 73rd minute, Emil Mandache made a precise shot to the right of Eugen Răduțu. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marin Isvoreanu got free with Ovidiu Berca in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Eugen Răduțu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emil Mandache, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. FC Dinamo's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
