An unexpectedly hard shot by Emil Mandache in the 5th minute of play forced Borussia Dortmund's goalkeeper Eugen Răduțu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dacian Văcaru in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eugen Răduțu saved Borussia Dortmund from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Emil Mandache in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eugen Răduțu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Dacian Văcaru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Emil Mandache came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the FC Dinamo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emil Mandache couldn't finish the play. When the match clock showed 33 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Dacian Văcaru sped through Borussia Dortmund's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Eugen Răduțu. In the 38th minute, Andrei Săvulescu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Borussia Dortmund fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Andrei Săvulescu succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-1 in the 44th playminute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Emil Mandache was the one to do the kick off. If Dan Merișor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 61 minutes, Dan Merișor managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Borussia Dortmund's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dan Merișor was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Dan Merișor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Andrei Săvulescu might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ovidiu Berca. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Andrei Săvulescu ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of FC Dinamo booed when Borussia Dortmund was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mădălin Meleșcanu didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Andrei Săvulescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 84 minutes into the game, Dan Merișor cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Ovidiu Berca was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ovidiu Berca stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Andrei Săvulescu's shot from short distance in the 94th minute. Borussia Dortmund were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of FC Dinamo for a fine match.
