Mugurel Ogășanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Matei Datcu in the 8th minute of play. After a rather tough play, FC FCSB's Constantin Negrescu got a free kick in the 18th minute. Mihăiţă Postolache received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Mugurel Ogășanu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Ferdinand Urdea managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC FCSB's supporters rose to their feet, but Ferdinand Urdea was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Irinel Minulescu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 23 minutes into the game, Ferdinand Urdea was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC FCSB's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Oltchim the free kick. Codruț Blănaru struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Irinel Minulescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC FCSB. If Ferdinand Urdea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Irinel Minulescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Codruț Blănaru, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. With a little luck, Oltchim's Irinel Minulescu got control of the ball when Ferdinand Urdea tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 33 played minutes Oltchim got a freekick which was hit by Mihăiţă Postolache. Codruț Blănaru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Matei Datcu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Mugurel Ogășanu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cezar Olariu in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mugurel Ogășanu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Matei Datcu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. George Isărescu kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Oltchim's Matei Datcu got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. FC FCSB's Mugurel Ogășanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cezar Olariu in the 62nd minute of play. Cezar Olariu struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Mugurel Ogășanu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Oltchim. Constantin Sântimbrean charged in rather forcefully in the 71st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Constantin Sântimbrean the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Oltchim booed when FC FCSB was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Constantin Sântimbrean didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Cezar Olariu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Oltchim's supporters rose to their feet, but Cezar Olariu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mugurel Ogășanu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Codruț Blănaru blasted a shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Irinel Minulescu having to make a save. When the match had gone on for 88 minutes, Constantin Negrescu put it in 2-1 from a short distance just to the right of Irinel Minulescu. Ferdinand Urdea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Irinel Minulescu having to interfere. FC FCSB were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Oltchim for a fine match.
