Nicolae Petrin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sergiu Vâlceanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. After a rather tough play, Zgaroesti's Mădălin Zmărăndescu got a free kick in the 11th minute. Nicolae Petrin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Codruț Blănaru in the 13th minute of the match. Laurențiu Patrichi struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Mugurel Ogășanu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Zgaroesti. Pavel Smarandache's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mugurel Ogășanu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. After having played for 17 minutes, Laurențiu Patrichi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Zgaroesti's supporters crossed their fingers, but Laurențiu Patrichi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nicolae Petrin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Constantin Negrescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mădălin Zmărăndescu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mugurel Ogășanu having to make a save. Edgar Praporgescu might have been able to make a better finish in the 30th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mugurel Ogășanu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edgar Praporgescu ran back to his position shaking his head. If Edgar Praporgescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sergiu Vâlceanu hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Zgaroesti's Laurențiu Patrichi got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Viorel Hurmuzache succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-0 in the 40th playminute. If Laurențiu Patrichi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC FCSB's goalkeeper Mugurel Ogășanu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Codruț Blănaru to strike the kick off in the second half.
