Spectators: 7460 (Terracing: 5596, Seating: 1715, VIP seats: 149) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Corneliu Udrescu got the match started through his kick off. Pompiliu Panaiteanu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Ionel Hristea tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 12 minutes, David Vasilescu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Steaua Bucarest and the Ghergheleu CSS players grew even worse after the yellow card. Steaua Bucarest's Sabin Siteavu got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ghergheleu CSS's Dumitru Ştef played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Basarab Ignat in the 22nd minute of play. When Francisc Florea fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ghergheleu CSS's protests and gave Francisc Florea a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Ghergheleu CSS getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Francisc Florea hit a great ball. After having played for 29 minutes, Sabin Siteavu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Steaua Bucarest's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sabin Siteavu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 31stth minute of the game Corneliu Udrescu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Steaua Bucarest's Ionel Hristea was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 35 minutes into the match, Ghergheleu CSS's goal looked a bit too open when Sabin Siteavu came free, but Dumitru Ştef reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In a very dangerous position, a player in Steaua Bucarest fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 36th minute. Penalty! If Sabin Siteavu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

David Vasilescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. During the 55th minute of the match Francisc Florea completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Francisc Florea a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of Steaua Bucarest booed when Ghergheleu CSS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Francisc Florea didn't get a good kick on the ball. 59 minutes into the match, Ghergheleu CSS's goalkeeper Dumitru Ştef had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Basarab Ignat. Sabin Siteavu was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 66th minute. Steaua Bucarest's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. The supporters of Steaua Bucarest booed when Ghergheleu CSS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Răzvan Minteuan didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dumitru Ştef made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sabin Siteavu in the 83rd minute of play. Ionel Hristea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pompiliu Panaiteanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 91 minutes into the game, Maxim Ispas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Steaua Bucarest's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ghergheleu CSS the free kick. Ghergheleu CSS's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
