A hard shot 6 in the game by Ferdinand Băieșu from a close distance when the talented Calistrat Frânculescu managed to make a qualified save. OSK's players were relieved. Valer Geoană received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Cesar Schmitt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Calistrat Frânculescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valeriu Lupoaia in the 9th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Valeriu Lupoaia managed to get in a good position for a shot. CS Minerul Lupeni's supporters rose to their feet, but Valeriu Lupoaia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Calistrat Frânculescu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 13th minute, Ovidiu Cismaș left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The OSK fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. 17 minutes into the game, Ferdinand Băieșu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Calistrat Frânculescu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Valeriu Lupoaia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valeriu Lupoaia in the 28th minute of play forced OSK's goalkeeper Calistrat Frânculescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of OSK booed when CS Minerul Lupeni was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. David Delin didn't get a good kick on the ball. 32 minutes into the match, Ferdinand Băieșu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Calistrat Frânculescu. OSK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ferdinand Băieșu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Ferdinand Băieșu in the 34thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Calistrat Frânculescu, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Ovidiu Cismaș managed to get in a good position for a shot. OSK's supporters rose to their feet, but Ovidiu Cismaș was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Valer Geoană fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cesar Schmitt having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The wind increased when Valeriu Lupoaia made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, OSK's Traian Beșliu got a free kick in the 57th minute. Calistrat Frânculescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valeriu Lupoaia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ovidiu Cismaș charged in rather forcefully in the 62nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ovidiu Cismaș the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Ferdinand Băieșu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Valeriu Lupoaia scored 3-1 in the 64th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Calistrat Frânculescu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When Valeriu Lupoaia came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the CS Minerul Lupeni fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Valeriu Lupoaia couldn't finish the play. If Ferdinand Băieșu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Valeriu Lupoaia in the 81st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Calistrat Frânculescu saved OSK from getting behind. When the match clock showed 85 minutes, the score became 4-1 when Valeriu Lupoaia sped through OSK's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Calistrat Frânculescu. The referee felt a red card was in order, 92 minutes into the game, when Vito Corleone put in a rough tackle. 91 minutes into the game, one of CS Minerul Lupeni:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Liviu Chelaru walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Calistrat Frânculescu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Valeriu Lupoaia's shot from short distance in the 98th minute. OSK's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
