Petre Zgrăbunţa was out of position in the 3 minute of play, and Valer Geoană capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Valer Geoană really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Ovidiu Cismaș managed to get in a good position for a shot. OSK's supporters rose to their feet, but Ovidiu Cismaș was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Petre Zgrăbunţa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Horea Maniu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Calistrat Frânculescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 11 minutes of play, F.C.Petrolul Ploiesti's Nistor Raicu made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Calistrat Frânculescu was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of OSK booed when F.C.Petrolul Ploiesti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dorin Hidișan didn't get a good kick on the ball. F.C.Petrolul Ploiesti's Petre Zgrăbunţa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valer Geoană in the 24th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Horea Maniu in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Calistrat Frânculescu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of F.C.Petrolul Ploiesti booed when OSK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marian Ecobici didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aurelian Podgoreanu was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 34th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 36th minute, Marian Ecobici hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 37 minutes into the game, Nistor Raicu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Calistrat Frânculescu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Calistrat Frânculescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Horea Maniu in the 45th minute of play. F.C.Petrolul Ploiesti's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Aurelian Podgoreanu in the 47th minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Valer Geoană made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to OSK getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Traian Beșliu hit a great ball. In the 53rd minute, Dorin Hidișan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Valer Geoană received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Petre Zgrăbunţa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Nistor Raicu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, OSK's Calistrat Frânculescu got control of the ball when Horea Maniu tried to sneak it across the goal line. Calistrat Frânculescu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Horea Maniu in the 70th minute. Alex Şuplăcan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 86 minutes, Daniel Opincaru mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the OSK and the F.C.Petrolul Ploiesti players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, OSK's Daniel Opincaru got a free kick in the 87th minute. In the 88th minute Nistor Raicu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Calistrat Frânculescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The F.C.Petrolul Ploiesti players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented OSK from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
