Calistrat Cîrțu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gabriel Harhoiu, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. 21 minutes into the game, Zlatarei's Eugen Gavrilescu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Calistrat Cîrțu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. A collision led to Zlatarei getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Gabriel Harhoiu hit a great ball. In the 43rd minute Francisc Chiru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Virgil Pătran saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Flavius Claudiescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Costel Jerca to strike the kick off in the second half. Virgil Pătran made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisc Chiru in the 53rd minute of play. Virgil Pătran took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Flavius Claudiescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Zlatarei's Liviu Slavici got a free kick in the 95th minute. Zlatarei's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
