Universitatea Cluj was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Trif didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dinu Berceanu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Dorin Cubleșan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Universitatea Cluj's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mugur Tudose helped the player get up and apologised. In the 27th match minute, VIITORUL BUZAU was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mugur Tudose to maneuver through the defense. After 30 played minutes VIITORUL BUZAU got a freekick which was hit by Mihail Drăgan. Mugurel Marioteanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Călin Bistreanu having to interfere. VIITORUL BUZAU's Călin Bistreanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mugurel Marioteanu in the 39th minute of play. Dinu Berceanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mugurel Marioteanu to strike the kick off in the second half. If Dinu Berceanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dinu Berceanu struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Dorin Cubleșan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for VIITORUL BUZAU. The supporters of F.C. The F.C. Universitatea Cluj fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Dorin Cubleșan came out of the goal in the 81st minute to try and stop a shot by VIITORUL BUZAU's Dinu Berceanu. But to his dismay, Dinu Berceanu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Florin Ţirpescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Călin Bistreanu having to interfere. 92 minutes into the match, VIITORUL BUZAU's goalkeeper Călin Bistreanu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mugurel Marioteanu. Călin Bistreanu was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Mugurel Marioteanu showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-2 in the 92 minute of play. In the 96th minute, Mugurel Marioteanu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
