VIITORUL BUZAU's Călin Bistreanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nae Marica in the 3rd minute of play. If Francisc Chiru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 10th match minute, PG FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nae Marica to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, VIITORUL BUZAU's Horea Penescu got a free kick in the 11th minute. Ionuț Gabor kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. Francisc Chiru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Călin Bistreanu having to interfere. Mugur Tudose hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. In the 22nd minute Nae Marica shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Călin Bistreanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 35th match minute, VIITORUL BUZAU was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Costel Constantin to maneuver through the defense. PG FC's Francisc Chiru got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 40th minute Francisc Chiru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Călin Bistreanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Călin Bistreanu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francisc Chiru, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Francisc Chiru's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Călin Bistreanu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Romeo Borcea stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, one of VIITORUL BUZAU:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for VIITORUL BUZAU. After a rather tough play, VIITORUL BUZAU's Cristian Nastac got a free kick in the 60th minute. If Mihai Manea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Mihăiţă Nebunu kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. A collision led to VIITORUL BUZAU getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Ionuț Gabor hit a great ball. If Francisc Chiru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Călin Bistreanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisc Chiru in the 70th minute of play. With a little luck, VIITORUL BUZAU's Călin Bistreanu got control of the ball when Nae Marica tried to sneak it across the goal line.
