A collision led to Stiinta getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Constantin Tătaru hit a great ball. Stiinta's defense didn't have a chance, in the 6th minute, when Romeo Cristian scored to the left of an out of position Vintilă Bejgăneanu, making the score, 1-0. George Brezois short, quick shot in the 10thth minute got Vintilă Bejgăneanu to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. George Brezoi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vintilă Bejgăneanu having to interfere. Steaua United's Romeo Cristian got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If George Brezoi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 20 minutes into the game, one of Stiinta:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. With a little luck, Stiinta's Vintilă Bejgăneanu got control of the ball when George Brezoi tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 26 played minutes Stiinta got a freekick which was hit by Virgil Mihuț. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Romeo Cristian in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vintilă Bejgăneanu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 30th minute, Constantin Tătaru made a precise shot to the right of Mircea Ciocâlteu. Steaua United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. Alin Micu scored 3-2 in the 34th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mircea Ciocâlteu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Victor Mihăilescu kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alin Micu in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mircea Ciocâlteu saved Steaua United from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Steaua United's Ion Gherghescu got a free kick in the 42nd minute. Virgil Mihuț's late challenge caught a Steaua United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Virgil Mihuț helped the player get up and apologised. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Romeo Cristian to make the kick off. Alin Micu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alin Micu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Mircea Ciocâlteu made a huge save. After 96 played minutes Steaua United got a freekick which was hit by Dumitru Rădoi. For all the effort they put into the match, the Stiinta players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Steaua United.
