Spectators: 7500 (Terracing: 5626, Seating: 1725, VIP seats: 149) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Augustin Ştercă started the match with the kick off. Augustin Ştercă sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 9th minute Gheorghe Otopeanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tudor Martin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The throw-in from Toader Şerbănoiu in the 15th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by FCSB CLUJ's Calistrat Cârneci. In the 17th match minute, FCSB CLUJ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alin Turcan to maneuver through the defense. In the 18th minute, Gheorghe Otopeanu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tudor Martin was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 22 minutes into the match, Cioroboreni's goal looked a bit too open when Calistrat Cârneci came free, but Nae Bucurescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tudor Martin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aristide Durbac in the 32nd minute of the match. Nae Bucurescu was a little too slow when Augustin Ştercă got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 36th minute. The score was now 1-2. Augustin Ştercă might have been able to make a better finish in the 40th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nae Bucurescu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Augustin Ştercă ran back to his position shaking his head. With 47 minutes on the clock, Calistrat Cârneci commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After 47 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for FCSB CLUJ! The referee gave Cioroboreni a penalty, 49 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Horea Baldovin, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of FCSB CLUJ's Tudor Martin. 1-3.

Tudor Martin didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 57th minute, which inside left pole to 1-4. FCSB CLUJ's defense didn't have a chance, in the 60th minute, when Gheorghe Otopeanu scored to the left of an out of position Tudor Martin, making the score, 1-5. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gheorghe Otopeanu got free with Tudor Martin in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 67th match minute, FCSB CLUJ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Augustin Ştercă to maneuver through the defense. 70 minutes into the match, FCSB CLUJ's goalkeeper Tudor Martin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gheorghe Otopeanu. The supporters of FCSB CLUJ booed when Cioroboreni was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aristide Durbac didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Moise Lucescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Moise Lucescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Toader Şerbănoiu hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. Alin Turcan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Augustin Ştercă in the 91st minute of play forced Cioroboreni's goalkeeper Nae Bucurescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience held their breath when Marc-Antoine Blaison in the 96th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Nae Bucurescu's left hand side. In the 98th minute Augustin Ştercă shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nae Bucurescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The FCSB CLUJ manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Cioroboreni to win.
