Without hesitation aimed to the right of Mugur Lucescu, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Vali Homeag struck a weak shot in the 5th minute. Mugur Lucescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Verbia CS. If Vali Blăniță had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 11 minutes, Iustin Macarie managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nevesteasca's supporters crossed their fingers, but Iustin Macarie was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. George Alexandru's late challenge caught a Verbia CS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. George Alexandru helped the player get up and apologised. In the 20th minute of the match, Vali Homeag tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Mugur Lucescu saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Ion Cârstea didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Vali Blăniță went, in the 22nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gigi Ichim during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Nevesteasca's Gigi Ichim got a free kick in the 29th minute. Ion Cârstea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from George Alexandru, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Iustin Macarie charged in rather forcefully in the 34th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Iustin Macarie the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 35 played minutes Nevesteasca got a freekick which was hit by Iustin Macarie. After a rather tough play, Verbia CS's Manole Stelaru got a free kick in the 36th minute. The supporters of Verbia CS booed when Nevesteasca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iustin Macarie didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match had gone on for 42 minutes, Vali Homeag took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Mugur Lucescu to make any attempt to save it. A collision led to Nevesteasca getting a freekick after 48 minutes play. Gigi Ichim hit a great ball. Vali Homeag was extremely unlucky when he, in the 49th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell George Alexandru to make the kick off. Mugur Lucescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vali Homeag, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vali Homeag in the 59th minute of play forced Nevesteasca's goalkeeper Mugur Lucescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling David Manea in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mugur Lucescu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Verbia CS's Ion Cârstea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by George Alexandru in the 68th minute of play. 72 minutes into the match, Nevesteasca's goal looked a bit too open when David Manea came free, but Mugur Lucescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Constantin Bianu fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Nevesteasca's protests and gave Constantin Bianu a yellow card for diving instead. In the 73rd minute, Constantin Bianu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. David Manea took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 74th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Mugur Lucescu. Nevesteasca's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 77th minute, Vali Homeag made a precise shot to the right of Mugur Lucescu. Nevesteasca's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Verbia CS's Ion Cârstea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by George Alexandru in the 80th minute of play. A collision led to Verbia CS getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Nicodim Ianculescu hit a great ball. Mugur Lucescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vali Homeag in the 86th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vali Homeag in the 94th minute of play forced Nevesteasca's goalkeeper Mugur Lucescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. George Alexandru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ion Cârstea having to interfere. Verbia CS walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
