Spectators: 7543 (Terracing: 5659, Seating: 1734, VIP seats: 150) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Ioan Cercelescu started the match with the kick off. Cristinel Tache recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristinel Tache got free with Paul Antohi in the 6th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 8th minute, Cristinel Tache made a precise shot to the right of Paul Antohi. STEAUA PLOIESTI's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ioan Cercelescu in the 15th minute of play forced SCORILO - CARPI's goalkeeper Nicodim Nistor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 19th minute, Ioan Cercelescu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nicodim Nistor was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Cristinel Tache came free with the goalkeeper in the 23rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Paul Antohi could save by the left post. Cătălin Ghițulescu hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. STEAUA PLOIESTI's Paul Antohi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Petruț Șeimeanu in the 31st minute of play. 34 minutes into the match, STEAUA PLOIESTI's goal looked a bit too open when Petruț Șeimeanu came free, but Paul Antohi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ioan Cercelescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Nicodim Nistor tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 45th minute of the match Mihăiţă Rădescu shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nicodim Nistor showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Petruț Șeimeanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The supporters of SCORILO - CARPI booed when STEAUA PLOIESTI was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sabin Codrea didn't get a good kick on the ball. 64 minutes into the match, STEAUA PLOIESTI's goal looked a bit too open when Petruț Șeimeanu came free, but Paul Antohi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 72 played minutes SCORILO - CARPI got a freekick which was hit by Dacian Novacovici. In the 76th minute Cristinel Tache shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paul Antohi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to SCORILO - CARPI getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Cristinel Tache hit a great ball. In the 88th minute, STEAUA PLOIESTI's Ioan Cercelescu dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. Petruț Șeimeanu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Paul Antohi having to make a save. The STEAUA PLOIESTI supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing STEAUA PLOIESTI would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
