The supporters of FC Porto Colentina booed when Atleti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Codruț Nisporeanu didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 9 minutes, Augustin Zgârcu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Atleti and the FC Porto Colentina players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 9th minute, Augustin Zgârcu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Cristinel Almăgean fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Porto Colentina's protests and gave Cristinel Almăgean a yellow card for diving instead. After 13 played minutes FC Porto Colentina got a freekick which was hit by Cristinel Almăgean. If Eric Vătavu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 19th match minute, FC Porto Colentina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albert Aursulesei to maneuver through the defense. Ferdinand Necula stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Roland Bronkala's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. The referee felt a red card was in order, 23 minutes into the game, when Daniel Prodan put in a rough tackle. In the 22nd minute, one of Atleti:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Atleti. Augustin Ispas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in FC Porto Colentina's zone, Eric Vătavu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ferdinand Necula came out of the goal and Eric Vătavu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cazimir Florescu in the 38th minute of play forced FC Porto Colentina's goalkeeper Ferdinand Necula to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mădălin Mercescu during the 39th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 39 played minutes Atleti got a freekick which was hit by Mădălin Mercescu. After 42 minutes, Răzvan Gioagă mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Porto Colentina and the Atleti players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 42nd match minute, FC Porto Colentina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Răzvan Gioagă to maneuver through the defense. Eric Vătavu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Ferdinand Necula tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Augustin Ispas was the one to do the kick off. Cazimir Florescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 53rd match minute, FC Porto Colentina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristinel Almăgean to maneuver through the defense. 55 minutes into the game, FC Porto Colentina's Augustin Ispas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Pavel Sucigan made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. With his leg Ferdinand Necula managed to avoid a goal in the 61stth minute, when Atleti's Codruț Nisporeanu fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Pavel Sucigan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Augustin Ispas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Codruț Nisporeanu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ferdinand Necula read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 68th minute of play. Ferdinand Necula came out of the goal in the 70th minute to try and stop a shot by Atleti's Cazimir Florescu. But to his dismay, Cazimir Florescu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Cazimir Florescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 85th minute, Cazimir Florescu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Atleti fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. 88 minutes in the game, Codruț Nisporeanu fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Ferdinand Necula having to interfere. If Eric Vătavu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 96 minutes, Eric Vătavu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atleti's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eric Vătavu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Atleti played a much better game than FC Porto Colentina and deserved their victory. The FC Porto Colentina players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
