FC Petrolul Ploiesti's Nae Mutu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ştefan Isaia in the 36th minute of play. Nae Mutu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Remus Panin in the 41st minute of the match. When Ştefan Isaia came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Pantazi fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ştefan Isaia couldn't finish the play. Toader Fetea kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. Ştefan Isaia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cezar Bădoi to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Pantazi's Gigi Marincean got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Nae Mutu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cezar Bădoi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in FC Petrolul Ploiesti's zone, Ştefan Isaia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nae Mutu came out of the goal and Ştefan Isaia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 61 minutes into the match, Pantazi's Cezar Bădoi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nae Mutu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpected shot in the 65th minute by Gigi Marincean got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 71 minutes into the match, FC Petrolul Ploiesti's goalkeeper Nae Mutu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ştefan Isaia. Cezar Bădoi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nae Mutu having to interfere. Remus Panin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the FC Petrolul Ploiesti defense, Mihnea Floricel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nae Mutu. The FC Petrolul Ploiesti fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nae Mutu should have stopped the shot. In the 94th minute, Cezar Bădoi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Pantazi were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
