Nae Mutu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Chevereșan in the 28th minute. Daniel Chevereșan in the 31stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Nae Mutu, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. When Tudor Andrițoiu fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Petrolul Ploiesti's protests and gave Tudor Andrițoiu a yellow card for diving instead. In the 33rd minute, Tudor Andrițoiu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Daniel Chevereșan came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the St. Pauli -MM- fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Chevereșan couldn't finish the play. Daniel Chevereșan struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Nae Mutu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for St. Pauli -MM-. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 78 minutes into the match, FC Petrolul Ploiesti's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Chevereșan came free, but Nae Mutu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Daniel Chevereșan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. St. Pauli -MM- fully deserved thier win.
