CS Virciorova's supporters rose to their feet, but Avram Bordeianu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Albert Otopeanu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 15th minute of the match Sorin Alexe sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mugur Cristea skillfully saved the ball. 18 minutes into the match, Viorel Drăghici had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mugur Cristea. CS Virciorova's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Viorel Drăghici was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Mugur Cristea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from George Muja, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 25 minutes, Grigore Măndica managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. F.C. Viitorul Iasi's supporters crossed their fingers, but Grigore Măndica was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. F.C. Viitorul Iasi's Grigore Măndica got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Albert Otopeanu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marius Pașcalău, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Albert Otopeanu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Avram Bordeianu went, in the 32nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. In the 35th minute, Claudiu Eftimescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marius Pașcalău scored 1-3 in the 40th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Albert Otopeanu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 46 minutes, Avram Bordeianu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CS Virciorova's supporters crossed their fingers, but Avram Bordeianu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sandu Brădean hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and George Muja made a kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vintilă Rusu during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Vintilă Rusu kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. George Muja might have been able to make a better finish in the 63rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mugur Cristea. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. George Muja ran back to his position shaking his head. If Grigore Măndica had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Viitorul Iasi supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching CS Virciorova's performance. The match ended with a win for CS Virciorova.
