When Moise Gorjanu came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Academia de Fotbal MM fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Moise Gorjanu couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Grigore Măndica in the 35th minute of play forced Academia de Fotbal MM's goalkeeper Corneliu Baldovinescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 44 minutes into the match, Academia de Fotbal MM's goal looked a bit too open when Viorel Drăghici came free, but Corneliu Baldovinescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Academia de Fotbal MM's Corneliu Baldovinescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Grigore Măndica in the 46th minute of play. 48 minutes into the match, Vintilă Rusu notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Academia de Fotbal MM's Corneliu Baldovinescu. Corneliu Baldovinescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Viorel Drăghici, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Academia de Fotbal MM defense, Vintilă Rusu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Corneliu Baldovinescu. The Academia de Fotbal MM fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Corneliu Baldovinescu should have stopped the shot. After 94 played minutes Academia de Fotbal MM got a freekick which was hit by Niculae Voicescu. Grigore Măndicas short, quick shot in the 96thth minute got Corneliu Baldovinescu to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The Academia de Fotbal MM fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. F.C. Viitorul Iasi were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
