After 10 played minutes CS Virciorova got a freekick which was hit by Augustin Avarvarei. Mugur Cristea stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Daniel Purcaru's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Purcaru in the 23rd minute of play forced CS Virciorova's goalkeeper Mugur Cristea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Sparta do Prague FC booed when CS Virciorova was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marius Arghiroiu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Avram Bordeianu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Traian Zeciu having to interfere. Daniel Purcaru might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mugur Cristea. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Daniel Purcaru ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 37th match minute, CS Virciorova was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marius Arghiroiu to maneuver through the defense. Niculae Negru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mugur Cristea having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Purcaru to strike the kick off in the second half. Daniel Purcaru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mugur Cristea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Codrin Zgondea in the 54th minute of play. A nice corner shot did that Ioan Chiriță got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Mugur Cristea quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. If Daniel Purcaru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 66th match minute, CS Virciorova was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robert Ciorobîtcă to maneuver through the defense. Mugur Cristea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Purcaru, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 71st minute, Mihăiţă Spirache hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mugur Cristea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Romeo Mihaiu in the 75th minute of play. 76 minutes into the game, Sparta do Prague FC's Romeo Mihaiu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mugur Cristea made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. The supporters of CS Virciorova booed when Sparta do Prague FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edgar Vrejiu didn't get a good kick on the ball. 82 minutes into the match, Sparta do Prague FC's goal looked a bit too open when Avram Bordeianu came free, but Traian Zeciu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 84th minute of the match CS Virciorova got a corner. Sparta do Prague FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Emanuel Suciu ran over to the corner to take the kick. Sparta do Prague FC's Alin Onciu got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
