Șerban Sărăroiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sever Brădescu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Șerban Mușat went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. After 11 minutes, Călin Stoleru mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Baba and the Chivas players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 11 played minutes Baba got a freekick which was hit by Călin Stoleru. Moise Spoială received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Sever Brădescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Baba booed when Chivas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tudor Crețu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sever Brădescu was a little too slow when Șerban Mușat got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 23rd minute. The score was now 2-0. Codruț Roșeanu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lucian Jucan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A hard shot 35 in the game by Moise Spoială from a close distance when the talented Sever Brădescu managed to make a qualified save. Chivas's players were relieved. After 38 minutes of play, Chivas's Șerban Sărăroiu made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Codruț Roșeanu was left in no man's land by his defense there! All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Șerban Sărăroiu to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Șerban Mușat in the 52nd minute of play forced Chivas's goalkeeper Sever Brădescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 53 played minutes Chivas got a freekick which was hit by Tudor Crețu. Moise Spoială received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Baba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Șerban Mușat was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Baba's Călin Stoleru got his second yellow card of the match in the 64th minute. The referee ordered Călin Stoleru off the ground. Codruț Roșeanu didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 70th minute, which inside left pole to 2-2. In the 73rd match minute, Chivas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tudor Crețu to maneuver through the defense. In the 75th minute, Șerban Sărăroiu fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lucian Jucan got free with Codruț Roșeanu in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Moise Spoială sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Șerban Mușat struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Sever Brădescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Baba. After 85 minutes of play, Baba's Ivan Daimacă made it 3-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sever Brădescu was left in no man's land by his defense there! Baba walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
