When Flavius Bitang came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Iași fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Flavius Bitang couldn't finish the play. In the 10thth minute of the game Flavius Bitang who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ashburton Grove's Doru Urducea was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Leonard Gheorghiu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ovidiu Lăzan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iacob Bunescu in the 27th minute of play. Leonard Gheorghiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 39th minute, Robert Pătrășconiu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Doru Urducea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leonard Gheorghiu, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Iacob Bunescu made a kick off. In the 51st minute, Pompiliu Tătaru hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Iași's Ovidiu Lăzan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iacob Bunescu in the 58th minute of play. Tudor Zbârlea kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Stelian Vasiloiu's late challenge caught a Iași's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Stelian Vasiloiu helped the player get up and apologised. In the 62nd minute, Stelian Vasiloiu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Iași's Ovidiu Lăzan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robert Pătrășconiu in the 65th minute of play. Tudor Zbârlea kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. If Robert Pătrășconiu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Iacob Bunescu scored 1-0 in the 68th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ovidiu Lăzan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Flavius Bitang in the 73rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Doru Urducea, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Doru Urducea made a fantastic save in the 77th minute, when Flavius Bitang sent off a good shot on target. Doru Urducea made an important save on a dangerous shot by Flavius Bitang in the 82nd minute. Ovidiu Lăzan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Robert Pătrășconiu in the 85th minute of the match. Iacob Bunescu struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Ovidiu Lăzan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ashburton Grove. Ovidiu Lăzan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Robert Pătrășconiu's shot from short distance in the 93rd minute. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Ashburton Grove fans cheered their team off the field, for while Iași had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
