Ovidiu Lăzan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mihăiţă Aluchei, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. 7 minutes into the match, Iași's goal looked a bit too open when Valeriu Morovan came free, but Ovidiu Lăzan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Valeriu Morovan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mihăiţă Aluchei received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Ovidiu Lăzan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. FC Ramnicu Valcea's defense didn't have a chance, in the 16th minute, when Flavius Bitang scored to the left of an out of position Codruț Ghimpu, making the score, 1-0. Flavius Bitang struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Codruț Ghimpu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Iași. Costin Codrescu kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. In the 25th match minute, Iași was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Doru Vasiliu to maneuver through the defense. In the 26th minute of the match Edgar Macamete sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ovidiu Lăzan skillfully saved the ball. Flavius Bitang received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Codruț Ghimpu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Leonard Gheorghiu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Codruț Ghimpu having to interfere. Ovidiu Lăzan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valeriu Morovan in the 43rd minute of play. Valeriu Morovan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Leonard Gheorghiu to strike the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mihăiţă Aluchei in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ovidiu Lăzan saved Iași from getting behind. When FC Ramnicu Valcea's Mihăiţă Aluchei in the 56th minute got a chance for a shot 56th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Iași's goalie prevented a goal. If Valeriu Morovan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 58th minute, FC Ramnicu Valcea's Mihăiţă Aluchei dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leonard Gheorghiu in the 63rd minute of play forced FC Ramnicu Valcea's goalkeeper Codruț Ghimpu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 67 minutes into the game, Octavian Covrig was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Iași's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Ramnicu Valcea the free kick. After 66 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Iași! The goalkeeper, Ovidiu Lăzan, was totally fooled by FC Ramnicu Valcea's Edgar Macamete, who 69 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. If Valeriu Morovan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 77th minute Mihăiţă Aluchei shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ovidiu Lăzan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ovidiu Lăzan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ferdinand Ştoia in the 79th minute of the match. Flavius Bitang sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Costin Codrescu kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. 84 minutes into the match, FC Ramnicu Valcea's Valeriu Morovan sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ovidiu Lăzan narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Iași's Ovidiu Lăzan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mihăiţă Aluchei in the 87th minute of play. Nicolae Mahonea charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nicolae Mahonea the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Nicolae Mahonea hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. Ovidiu Lăzan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mihăiţă Aluchei's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. If Mihăiţă Aluchei had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Flavius Bitang fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Codruț Ghimpu having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mihăiţă Aluchei in the 96th minute of play forced Iași's goalkeeper Ovidiu Lăzan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FC Ramnicu Valcea's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
