After a rather tough play, Candelele's Denis Tarcea got a free kick in the 13th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Panait Stârcea during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 16th match minute, Candelele was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Panait Stârcea to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Candelele's Petre Mironescu got control of the ball when Horaţiu Vochin tried to sneak it across the goal line. Panait Stârcea was shown his second yellow card after 25 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 25 played minutes Candelele got a freekick which was hit by Panait Stârcea. In the 26th minute, Denis Tarcea hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pompiliu Niculcea struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Petre Mironescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC MEDVE. Emanuel Benga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emanuel Benga in the 31st minute of play forced Candelele's goalkeeper Petre Mironescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Candelele defense, Gheorghe Dedu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Petre Mironescu. The Candelele fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Petre Mironescu should have stopped the shot. After having played for 40 minutes, Călin Nasta managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Candelele's supporters crossed their fingers, but Călin Nasta was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Emanuel Benga stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Petre Mironescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Horaţiu Vochin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Călin Nasta in the 53rd minute of play forced FC MEDVE's goalkeeper Rareș Zmărăndache to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Candelele defense, Horaţiu Vochin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Petre Mironescu. The Candelele fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Petre Mironescu should have stopped the shot. Candelele's Petre Mironescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emanuel Benga in the 64th minute of play. If Călin Nasta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Petre Mironescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Horaţiu Vochin in the 70th minute of play. Candelele's Petre Mironescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Horaţiu Vochin in the 72nd minute of play. Călin Nasta might have been able to make a better finish in the 76th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rareș Zmărăndache. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Călin Nasta ran back to his position shaking his head. FC MEDVE's Gheorghe Dedu got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ivan Axinia hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Maxim Iftimescu kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. Pompiliu Niculcea struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Petre Mironescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC MEDVE. After a defensive mix-up in Candelele's zone, Emanuel Benga stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Petre Mironescu came out of the goal and Emanuel Benga tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Petre Mironescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Horaţiu Vochin in the 93rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emanuel Benga in the 96th minute of play forced Candelele's goalkeeper Petre Mironescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The FC MEDVE fans cheered their team off the field, for while Candelele had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
