Oțelul Galați's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sport Club the free kick. Mugurel Mohora fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ciprian Mardare having to interfere. Bogdan Muraru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ciprian Mardare having to interfere. Nechifor Aplugăriței fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Costică Neaga having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gigi Blaj got free with Costică Neaga in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gigi Blaj hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Mugurel Mohora managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sport Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Mugurel Mohora was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ciprian Mardare breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 27 played minutes Oțelul Galați got a freekick which was hit by Nechifor Aplugăriței. Ciprian Mardare didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bogdan Muraru went, in the 29th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 33 minutes into the game, Sport Club's Mugurel Mohora nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ciprian Mardare made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Oțelul Galați's Gigi Blaj got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mugurel Mohora in the 39th minute of play forced Oțelul Galați's goalkeeper Ciprian Mardare to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gigi Blaj fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Costică Neaga having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Nechifor Aplugăriței made the kick off in the second half. Oțelul Galați's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nechifor Aplugăriței was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mihail Coman recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 63rd minute, Mugurel Mohora fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. A collision led to Oțelul Galați getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Nechifor Petrea hit a great ball. After having played for 66 minutes, Bogdan Muraru managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sport Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bogdan Muraru was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 76th play minutes Gigi Blaj shot 1-2, a short shot which went by Costică Neaga and just under the crossbar into goal. Gigi Blaj sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bogdan Muraru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 83 minutes into the match, Oțelul Galați's goalkeeper Ciprian Mardare had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bogdan Muraru. Ciprian Mardare made a fantastic save in the 85th minute, when Bogdan Muraru sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mugurel Mohora in the 86th minute of play forced Oțelul Galați's goalkeeper Ciprian Mardare to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 92 minutes in the game, Mugurel Mohora fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Ciprian Mardare having to interfere. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Sport Club eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
