Leonard Glodeanu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 6th minute of the match, but Tudor Turcan made a huge save. Niculae Ciprian received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Tudor Turcan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cristinel Sorin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cfr cluj's Ionel Postelnicescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iurie Culcer in the 13th minute of play. Tudor Turcan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristinel Sorin, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Irinel Zgondea kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. In the 21st minute, Alin Blănaru left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Curciu fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. If Alin Blănaru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. Iurie Culcer took the ball and in the 42 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ionel Postelnicescu. Ionel Postelnicescu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. If Alin Blănaru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half Curciu were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alin Blănaru to make the kick off. Tudor Turcan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristinel Sorin, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. After 54 played minutes Curciu got a freekick which was hit by Alin Pușcariu. 56 minutes into the match, Niculae Ciprian notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Curciu's Tudor Turcan. Tudor Turcan was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristinel Sorin in the 60th minute of play forced Curciu's goalkeeper Tudor Turcan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Niculae Ciprian managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cfr cluj's supporters rose to their feet, but Niculae Ciprian was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tudor Turcan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 65 minutes had been played when some careless play by Curciu's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ovidiu Niculcea was slow to take the kick. During this time Cfr cluj's players had a chance to rest. 70 minutes into the match, Curciu's Corneliu Simuţ broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 72nd minute, Alin Blănaru got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Cristinel Sorin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Curciu's Alin Blănaru got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Curciu's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
