Ilie Ploieșteanu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. When Cazimir Mușat fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored chindia tgv's protests and gave Cazimir Mușat a yellow card for diving instead. In the 22nd minute, Cazimir Mușat hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A hard shot 24 in the game by Silviu Zamfirescu from a close distance when the talented Ilie Ploieșteanu managed to make a qualified save. chindia tgv's players were relieved. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Dumitru Răchiteanu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Birnadel's supporters rose to their feet, but Dumitru Răchiteanu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ilie Ploieșteanu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Through an outstanding action, after 29 minutes, Ilie Ploieșteanu successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nichifor Caramarin in the 35th minute of play forced Birnadel's goalkeeper Mircea Blăniță to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 37thth minute of the game Silviu Zamfirescu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but chindia tgv's Ilie Ploieșteanu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Silviu Zamfirescu to make the kick off. Ilie Ploieșteanu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Silviu Zamfirescu's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. Eduard Blajovan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ilie Ploieșteanu having to interfere. After 90 played minutes, Birnadel's Ciprian Scripcaru shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ilie Ploieșteanu came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Birnadel reached it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Silviu Zamfirescu in the 91st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ilie Ploieșteanu saved chindia tgv from getting behind. Ilie Ploieșteanu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Codruț Gavrilă, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 94 minutes into the match, chindia tgv's goal looked a bit too open when Dumitru Răchiteanu came free, but Ilie Ploieșteanu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ilie Ploieșteanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silviu Zamfirescu in the 95th minute of play. When the referee ended the match the Birnadel players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
