Mugur Chificeac took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcu Găvan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristian Aldescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from George Cutean, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. After 8 minutes of play, Speranta's Dacian Lixandru made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mugur Chificeac was left in no man's land by his defense there! The audience thought a goal was coming when Dacian Lixandru got free with Mugur Chificeac in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Unirea BFF's Mugur Chificeac got control of the ball when Dacian Lixandru tried to sneak it across the goal line. Mugur Chificeac made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dacian Lixandru in the 20th minute. Emanuel Becheanu's late challenge caught a Speranta's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Emanuel Becheanu helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Speranta booed when Unirea BFF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Speranta's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcu Găvan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Aurel Ţugui got free with Mugur Chificeac in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Marcu Găvan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mugur Chificeac read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Speranta's Marcu Găvan in the 45th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Mugur Chificeac was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Unirea BFF through an amazing save. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After a defensive mix-up in Unirea BFF's zone, Aurel Ţugui stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mugur Chificeac came out of the goal and Aurel Ţugui tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mugur Chificeac made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcu Găvan in the 56th minute of play. Dacian Lixandru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mugur Chificeac having to interfere. In the 86th minute Dacian Lixandru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mugur Chificeac saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Emanuel Becheanu kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. The referee felt a red card was in order, 89 minutes into the game, when Vlad Dărăscu put in a rough tackle. After 90 played minutes Unirea BFF got a freekick which was hit by Vlad Dărăscu. 97 minutes into the match, Marcu Găvan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mugur Chificeac. Unirea BFF's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marcu Găvan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Speranta fans cheered their team off the field, for while Unirea BFF had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
