The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Lucian Greculescu during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 13th match minute, Bontesti SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lucian Greculescu to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cornel Borza in the 19th minute of play forced FC Rapid's goalkeeper Valentin Gugea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FC Rapid's Valentin Gugea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cornel Borza in the 21st minute of play. When Cătălin Bojonca fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Rapid's protests and gave Cătălin Bojonca a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, FC Rapid's Cătălin Bojonca got a free kick in the 24th minute. A hard shot by Sorin Mareș from long distance, 24 minutes into the match, got Valentin Gugea's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Valentin Gugea had in the 40thth minute some difficulties stopping Sorin Mareș's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. When Lucian Greculescu was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 41 minutes had been played. If Ioan Mărculescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pavel Vochin got free with Valentin Gugea in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.

The wind increased when Pavel Vochin made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Dumitru Roman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Emil Stejaru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ionel Bobariu having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in FC Rapid's zone, Cornel Borza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Valentin Gugea came out of the goal and Cornel Borza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 62 minutes into the game, Cornel Borza was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bontesti SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Rapid the free kick. Iosif Ilinca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Valentin Gugea tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Valentin Gugea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pavel Vochin in the 69th minute of play. Valentin Gugea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pavel Vochin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Pavel Vochin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pavel Vochin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Valentin Gugea tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dumitru Roman took the ball and in the 82 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Valentin Gugea. Valentin Gugea dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. In the 86th minute, Ioan Mărculescu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. FC Rapid's Valentin Gugea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pavel Vochin in the 95th minute of play. Bontesti SC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
