In the 14th minute, Daniel Boc got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Radu Mâinea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marian Blidaru, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 17 minutes into the match, Varleni's Daniel Boc sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Radu Mâinea narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Albert Ciuvică might have been able to make a better finish in the 22nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Radu Mâinea. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. After a defensive mix-up in FC Juniors's zone, Alex Malcoci stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Radu Mâinea came out of the goal and Alex Malcoci tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Varleni fans' excitement grew in the 38th match minute when Varleni's Daniel Boc looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Costel Negruț took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Isac Sucigan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Martin Tăzlăuanu came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the FC Juniors fans jumped to their feet. Varleni's supporters rose to their feet, but Marian Blidaru was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Radu Mâinea breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 95 minutes, Mircea Drăghici managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Varleni's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mircea Drăghici was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the final whistle sounded Varleni left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than FC Juniors.
