In the 3rd match minute, FC Leresti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Viorel Alexandroae to maneuver through the defense. Daniel Boc fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Irinel Iordache having to interfere. Albert Ciuvică received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Irinel Iordache tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Calistrat Ţirpe might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Costel Negruț. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Calistrat Ţirpe ran back to his position shaking his head. Mircea Drăghici sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Daniel Boc sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ciprian Armanca hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Mircea Drăghici managed to get in a good position for a shot. Varleni's supporters rose to their feet, but Mircea Drăghici was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Irinel Iordache breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Albert Ciuvică had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. Varleni's supporters crossed their fingers, but Albert Ciuvică was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Irinel Iordache showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Albert Ciuvică, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. 46 minutes into the game, FC Leresti's Calistrat Mihalcea nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Costel Negruț made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Albert Ciuvică made a kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Mircea Drăghici managed to get in a good position for a shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alex Malcoci got free with Irinel Iordache in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 59 minutes, Daniel Boc managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Varleni's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Boc was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Irinel Iordache made an important save on a dangerous shot by Albert Ciuvică in the 62nd minute. In the 75th minute of the match David Lăzăroiu sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Costel Negruț skillfully saved the ball. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 89 minutes into the match, Varleni's Alex Malcoci sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Irinel Iordache narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Albert Ciuvică struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Irinel Iordache didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Varleni. Marian Blidaru recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The FC Leresti support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
