Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Augustin Nanu to make the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sandu Măgherușan in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marius Cupșa saved FC Universitatea Craiova from getting behind. When Sandu Măgherușan came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Botarcani fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sandu Măgherușan couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, FC Universitatea Craiova's Marius Cupșa got control of the ball when Costel Zgabei tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nichifor Orghidan was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Remus Buhoiu hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in FC Universitatea Craiova's zone, Sandu Măgherușan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marius Cupșa came out of the goal and Sandu Măgherușan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The FC Universitatea Craiova fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Botarcani were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
